National Novel Writing Month: Day 1

Day 1

So far, so good with 1,726 words for the day. It took me 4.25 hours, which again is not a bad pace, but I’m a bit concerned about writing speed when I consider that this is the part of the novel I’ve envisioned most clearly. Starting probably tomorrow, I’ll have to put in extra time to continue the world building and outlining in progress, and I’ll still have more research than I did today. So I’m going to have to lower my standards. The trick is always to write just well enough that I don’t want to kill myself when I open it up the next day. I really think that’s counterproductive because it can send the project off track. But there’s a middle ground somewhere. I aim to find it.
