Have you ever been taught a master class on point of view in fiction? Have you ever been taught one … by Death?

I will be dressed as Death (of the Endless) and participating in the following panels:

Friday
7:00-9:00 p.m.: Meet the Guests
9:00pm - 10:00pm: Do old, fat, bearded white men really run science fiction? Did they ever?
The image of the genre looks like the history of psychology, but is it accurate? How diverse is it? And how can we make it more diverse?

Saturday
3:00 p.m. Mentor Texts: Who Do You Read and Why?
Writers read, but not just for entertainment value. Many of us read to see who is writing what and to pull apart the text and uncover the techniques being used by successful (and sometimes not to successful) authors. This panel will discuss the use of other authors’ works as mentor texts.

5:00 p.m. Autograph Session
I’ll have copies of the following for purchase:
The Sonoran Desert: A Literary Field Guide (University of Arizona Press, contains my poem), Building Successful Freelancer-Client Relationships by Erin Wilcox (Editorial Freelancers Association), Crack the Spine (contains my Pushcart-nominated story), and a couple copies of Praxis: Gender and Cultural Critiques (SUNY Oneanta, contains my story “The Barn”)

6:00 p.m. Writers and Artists Who Live Together and How They Keep from Killing Each Other
Only moody artists can live with moody artists, or CAN they?

Sunday
9:00 a.m. Point of View in Fiction, a Master Class
Master the use of perspective and you will have mastered the art of fiction. This craft talk delves into nuances of wielding narrative distance, offering tips for intermediate and advanced writers.

11:00 a.m. Writing across Category and Genre
Does an author have to stick to writing for a single genre or category? Or can she branch out? What are the pros and cons for both?
